Pot-money that is at stakes for the entire table to add too, and eventually goes to the winner once a winning hand is shown
Okay, when you are playing poker, there are a couple types of bets.
Initial BET
A bet starts off the exchange. It puts money into the pot for other people to call.
Example:
Fred deals Joe and Jack the hand.
Joe makes the first bet with $20.
---------------------------------------------------
Call/Raise/Fold
Call- matching the bet that is in the pot
example: Jack calls Joe's bet by placing $20 on the table also
-----------------------------------------------------
Raise- adding more money to the pot exceeding the amount added from the initial bet.
example: Jack Raises Joe's bet by $20 by adding $40 to the pot.
A Raise can be raised also.
example: After Jack raises Joe, Fred raises Jack's bet by $30 dollars by adding $70 to the pot.
-----------------------------------------------------
Fold- Not calling the bet that has been made to you
example: After Fred raises Jack, Joe decides he doesn't have good enough cards to add $50 extra to his bet, so he folds, and gives up his initial $20 to the winner of Jack and Fred.
-----------------------------------------------------
Check- Not adding anymore money to the pot because you have bet the highest bet.
example: After Joe folds, Jack calls, and Fred checks by not adding anymore money to the pot.
